Logo Design | Yucca Investments
Yucca is an investment company for businesses to back projects on the resource-rich continent of Africa. The client wanted a strong and recognizable logo that represents both the Yucca plant and symbolizes the act of investment.
Goal
Design a logo that visually represents the Yucca plant, as well as the act of investing in the resource-rich continent of Africa. The logo needed to be strong, but balanced between masculine and feminine elements.
Approach
I worked closely with the client, who indicated their preferred colour palette and design elements. I initially utilized AI to generate some iterations of my concept sketches and then took the ones I thought worked best into Adobe Illustrator to create vector logos, adjusting the logo images to more closely represent what the client wanted. I then used Adobe Photoshop to create mockups of the logo for presentation purposes.
Results
The final product is a clean and minimalist design that is strong, but gentle. The Yucca plant is represented above a downward-facing arrow, or leaves representing the act of investing and reeping. The gold and green colour palette represnt yielding the wealth of the natural world.
The elements I used in this logo, (from top to bottom), represented a diamond, a downward-facing arrow, horns, and a supporting base. All these elements come together to represent the act of investing in the African continent. However, the client felt that the initial design was too busy, masculine and involved.
I reworked the logo design based on the client’s feedback and created two variations that were softer and more simplistic in design, utilizing reworked elements of the previous design that the client felt best represented their brand. We were getting close, but not quite there yet.
The logo was reworked and simplified to create the final logo image based on the client’s feedback. The design was then taken to final review with the board of directors and approved.
